From the authors website:
A decadent savage has captured Francesca (Cesca) DuVall and her brother, Marsh. Now she must spend every waking moment planning an escape. However, she didn’t count on the powerful draw of desire interfering with her scheme in the camp of the brutal Cheyenne dog soldiers.
Ethan Gray is a curator at a national museum . . . most of the time, but when he travels through time to help his beloved People he becomes Meko, leader of the most revered and feared tribe of the plains.
Although their worlds are decades apart Meko can’t resist the dark beauty he kidnapped during a raid. He has many battles to fight but none he wants to win more than the one that will capture Cesca’s heart forever. From the windswept plains of Colorado and the harsh life of a Dog Soldier to the placid life of a curator their love was fueled by passion and kindled by destiny.

More about the story:
Ethan Gray is a modern man with a good job, but a lonely life. At 25 years of age, he has pledged his existence to helping the Cheyenne Nation (the People) and is considered a seasoned veteran by the Sacred Council. But Ethan isn’t an ordinary man. He is brother to the raven -- a shifter -- and a time-traveler. His missions involve traveling back in time as Meko, the leader of the Cheyenne Dog Soldiers, to save as many of the People he can. He is troubled with prophetic dreams and visions of the past that he has yet to experience. But there is one vision he cannot abandon - one of a beautiful dark-haired girl. Who is she? When will he meet her? As Meko makes yet another leap in time to help his ancestors fight the “blue coats” he thinks he takes captive a young white boy, until he realizes that his captive is the girl that haunts his dreams.
When Cesca, and her brother Marsh, is taken captive by the fierce Dog Soldiers, she thinks of nothing but escape. When she promises not to leave camp and marry Meko, she formulates a plan to help her brother escape his torment. But as her punishment is handed down and she faces possible death, Cesca realizes that she has strong feelings for her dark captor. What will Meko do to save the woman he has come to love?

Sunday Snippets #23
From The Sin Eater’s Prince by Keta Diablo
Beneath the candle’s sputtering flame, Andras saw the pulse beat in the hollow of his [Owen’s] throat. Owen’s had slip up his arm, stopping near the ridge of the wound he’d earned fighting Traherne.
The unsteady gasp of the sin eater’s breath fanned his lips, so close now he couldn’t have turned away if a tidal wave capsized the meager abode. A force more powerful than Duw’s thunder heaved between them, and then it was too late for Andras to stop.
Owen’s touch on his arm, the taste of his lips melding with his, sent a jolt of unbearable pleasure rushing through him. The sin eater’s fingers wound their way into the hair at the back of his neck and Owen drew him deeper into the kiss. Andras parted his lips with his tongue, evoking a breathless moan and a defenseless surrender of his body against Owen’s.
His manhood swelled and ached, the surge of blood rushing to the head almost unbearable. God help him. If Owen took it in his mind right now to seek out the hard shaft, Andras’s release would burst forth the instant he touched him.
The kiss deepened, Owen converging on him like a starved beast, his mouth devouring his, his tongue giving back what it took. There was nothing in the world except Owen: no brutal visions, no vampires. He tasted like summer rain and Andras couldn’t see to slake his thirst.

Decadent Deceptions - Review
Decadent Deceptions
Author: Keta Diablo
Release Date: October 2008
Publisher: Noble Romance Publishing
ISBN: #978-1-60592-013-9
Genre: Historical Erotic Romance
Note: This book was given to me by the author for the purpose of review.
From the author’s website:
Daring and desperate to win Morgan’s love, Olivia Breedlove embarks on a reckless folly. But everything backfires when Morgan remains one step ahead of her and the game ventures down a path of duplicity and murder.
A decade ago, Morgan was a heartbeat away from taking Olivia’s virginity. Her father, Thaddeus, intervened and threatened to meet him over pistols if he so much as looked at his daughter again. But now, Thaddeus is dead and Morgan has no intention of ignoring the ravenous hunger he’s harbored for the blasted woman for ten years.
One way or the other, he will quench this burning desire and make her his forever.
What I’m talking about:
The book starts out with the recent death of dear Olivia and Cain’s father. He was a wealthy man who split his estate between his son (and fiancée) and daughter - with one catch: she must wed a respectable man of the gentry within 6 months. Headstrong Olivia does NOT like this plan, especially when the love of her life (and brother’s best friend) does not meet her father’s criteria. Alas, Olivia is determined to win over Morgan, regardless of her father’s last wishes, if only Morgan would look at Olivia as more than a little sister. In order to win over Morgan, Olivia begins a quest to make him jealous by venturing to the local brothel to “observe and learn.”
Meanwhile, Morgan has loved Olivia for ten years and is nearly insane with desire. He wants Olivia to love him and determines to “help” her in her endeavors. Morgan and Olivia enter into game of cat and mouse to try and win over the other. Little do they realize that they both want the same thing: each other. Misconceptions raise the stakes at each turn of events. (It reminded me of that Friends episode when Phoebe and Rachel tried to get Chandler and Monica to admit that they were fooling around, yet Chandler and Monica wanted the ladies to admit they knew...) Top off these games with the fact that some one is killing off the brothel’s female employees, and it looks like the same person may be stalking Olivia.
I have to tell you that I usually hate it when couples hide their emotions from one another for silly reasons. I’m usually yelling “Grow up and just tell him/her you love them.” But the intense sexual attraction between Olivia and Morgan kept me glued to this delightful tale. Their wicked games engrossed my life - keeping me up until all hours reading. The societal expectations of the times had me worried that they would be discovered as they toyed with and indulged in each other, drawing out their unspoken lust. The knowledge that there was a murderer in the mix had my heart racing. In short: this book had me hooked.
There were a few times during the book that I did get a little bothered with Morgan pushing things too far-too fast. And boy did he put his foot in his mouth a time or two. But Ms. Diablo didn’t let these “negative” character points draw out. It seems like each time I’d get frustrated (which wasn’t often), the situation was remedied to my liking within a page or two.
All of these wonderful (and not so pleasant) situations caused me to experience joy and heartbreak while reading the book. This made the moment when Morgan and Olivia finally came together in love all the more spectacular. This book is a wonderful blend of mystery, action, humor and HOT sex! I did not want the tale to end.

Author Interview - Keta Diablo
Today I have the honor of bringing to you author Keta Diablo. Keta lives in the Midwest portion of the country on six acres of beautiful woodland. Here, she communes with nature; eagles, owls and loons (the winged version). There's a lovely environmental lake on her property named after a famous Native American chief, and the locals insist burial grounds from 150 years ago exist in her woods. Hmm. Maybe it's not always the wind she hears howling at night. When Keta isn't writing she loves to read and garden and spends far too much time at the local animal shelter trying to wrangle a way to adopt them all. Two years ago she adopted Emma LaPounce, a mid-life feline who was in crisis when her long-time owners moved out of town, took their furniture but left her behind. Hours before Emma was to journey to the other world, Keta adopted her, and now she runs the entire darn house. Please help me welcome Keta to That’s What I’m Talking About.
Twimom: Keta, welcome and thank you for stopping by.
Keta: Hi Jen, first of all, thank you so much for hosting me on your lovely blog.
Twimom: *blushes* Thank You. I’ve read two of your stories. Decadent Deceptions is set back in the 1800's down in Savannah, Georgia. I've also read The Sin Eater's Prince, which takes place in a time "long ago." Do you prefer to write stories that take place in the past? Have you written any contemporary titles?
Keta: I’ve always loved writing historical romance and started out in that genre. Several years ago, I branched off into Gay Fiction and really enjoy that genre too. I go back and forth between the two and occasionally toss in a paranormal or fantasy romance.
All the novellas from my Crossroads series, Gay Fiction, released by Phaze Publishing are contemporary, as are Blood Oath and Hot and Sticky, also Gay Fiction, released by Amber Quill Press. Twimom: Of two genres that you primarily write (“historical erotic" and "m/m" romances), which do you prefer? Is one genre easier to write than the other?
Keta: I’ll say the male/male novellas are quicker because they’re not full-length novels. The erotic romance is almost always full novels. And there’s more research with the historical romance. I enjoy writing both because of the variety and the different lengths, but if you really pinned me down I’d have to say I’m really fond of reading and writing historical romance.
Twimom: Well, I’ve read one of each genre and have to tell you I’ve enjoyed both! How did you start your writing career?
Keta: The first book I wrote was a sensual historical based on a real-life event in my family history. Not too long after that first book I began writing erotic romance and like I mentioned above added Gay fiction. Several years ago I wrote an erotic fantasy romance called Dust and Moonlight and I really enjoyed writing that genre too. I hope to do another fantasy/time travel one day.
Twimom: Sounds interesting! What is the best book you've read in 2010? What upcoming 2010 book release are you most looking forward to reading?
Keta: I absolutely loved The Spymaster’s Lady by Joanna Bourne and hope to get to the other books in the series soon. I think she’s a wonderful writer with an amazing grasp of plot and character depth. Like many authors, I don’t have a lot of time to read so I have to be very selective in what I choose. I’ll often read the reviews and ask around if I’m on the lookout for a new book. My TBR pile AND TBR list is huge. I still have books sitting on my nightstand that I received last Christmas and haven’t had the time to open them yet. I know, pathetic.
Twimom: I am not a writer, but I can empathize with the large TBR pile! What are your favorite genres to read?
Keta: When time, I do read in a wide variety. Right now, I have about three books going, which isn’t unusual for me. One is a fantasy, one is a historical romance and the other is a book on writing.
Twimom: I envy folks that can read more than one book at a time-I can’t do it. Do you have anything in the works right now?
Keta: Thanks so much for asking. I have two releases coming out in August. The first is Long, Hard Ride, a male/male novella to be released by Decadent Publishing on August 1, 2010. Be sure to mark your calendars and visit their web site on that day. The publisher will be giving away a lot of prizes including an e-reader!And the second release is an erotic romance/paranormal called Where The Rain Is Made, also released by Decadent Publishing on August 26, 2010.
Twimom: Wow! Sounds like you are keeping busy! Keta, once again thank you so much for taking the time to tell my readers a little bit about yourself and your writing. It was wonderful chatting with you.
Keta: Thanks again, Jen, for having me. I just love your blog!

Review of The Sin Eater's Prince
The Sin Eater’s Prince
Author: Keta Diablo
Release Date: January 2010
Publisher: Ravenous Romance
ISBN: #978-1-60777-319-1
Genre: Paranormal Romance, M/M Romance
From the author’s website:
Owen Rhys, the sin eater of his village in Wales, has been shunned by the local villagers his entire life—except by Andras Maddock, the local physician. In love with the one man he thinks will never return that love, Owen is shocked when Andras saves him from death at the hands of a vampire and admits he cares deeply for Owen.
Dagan, son of Traherne, the vampire Andras killed to save Owen, will stop at nothing to avenge his father’s death and obtain the Prince of Wales’s mystic sword from Andras. The divine claymore holds the power to grant immunity from the sun’s harsh rays—the one exemption the dark Lords of the Underworld has sought for centuries.
Star-crossed love, sorcery, and bloodlust collide on a vengeful path where only one side can remain.
What I’m talking about:
Owen is one of those perfect males... a quiet, humble man... one that is gorgeous, but doesn’t know it, one that gives of himself day after day and expects nothing in return. From the beginning I fell for Owen. I was so worried he would get his heart stomped upon or end up being used and tossed away. But someone else noticed how amazing Owen is... Andras, small town physician and vampire-in-hiding. The two admire each other from afar, never expecting their lust and desire to be returned. Yet fate brings them together and leads them on a wonderful journey.
Their love story is uncomplicated and full of life. They don’t play games with one another and act on their desires almost immediately in the book (although it has been about 5 years of backstory for the two of them.) Their union does not disappoint. Their love making is HOT and full of beautiful emotions that pulled on my heart strings. There is detailed m/m erotic sex, so if you are at all leery of m/m romance, you may want to steer clear. However, I found the romance so beautiful, it didn’t matter to me what their sexual preferences were.
But, this story does not end with the union of Owen and Andras. Enter Dagan, long tooth (vampire) and bad guy extraordinaire. His father was slain by Andras and now Dagan wants revenge - as well as the magical sword which Andras holds. In order to defeat Andras, Dagan discovers the physician’s weakness: Owen. Dagan uses Owen in his attempts to bring down Andras. Yet Dagan is also drawn to beautiful Owen, and I wondered: is there more to this simple man than meets the eye?
The Sin Eater’s Prince takes place in old-Wales and the mythology is slightly different that the “typical” vampire romance. The vamps are not the good guys and there is no hot and heavy blood-sucking fantasies. Andras must fight his dark side continuously. Ms. Diablo incorporates various Welsh tales and traditions, which gives it a darker undertone and that “old world” vibe.
In addition, we meet a handful of supporting characters that fill out the story. I enjoyed kind-hearted Carys, and hope that we may see a future where she finds a lovely man to warm her heart.
The only downside to this tale was the ease at which Dagan and his clan was brought down. There was a lot of build-up and it seemed a bit too easy or too quick for my taste. In addition, I was left wondering about the mysterious werewolves, the evil dragon lord, Draig, and a few other things.
Those unanswered questions coupled with the open-ended, vision-of-the-future epilogue, have my interest piqued for a second book. With Owen was just learning of his true nature and potential, I sure hope Ms. Diablo follows up on this delightful tale. The Sin Eater’s Prince is an enjoyable read that I definitely recommend.
