Author Guest Post: Tracy Cooper-Posey
Today I am pleased to introduce you to romance author Tracy Cooper-Posey. Tracy is an Amazon #1 Best Selling Author who writes erotic vampire romances, hot romantic suspense, paranormal and urban fantasy romances. She has published over 50 novels since 1999, been nominated for five CAPAs including Favourite Author, and won the Emma Darcy Award.
She turned to indie publishing in 2011. Her indie titles have been nominated four times for Book Of The Year and Byzantine Heartbreak was a 2012 winner. She has been a national magazine editor and for a decade she taught romance writing at MacEwan University.
She is addicted to Irish Breakfast tea and chocolate, sometimes taken together. In her spare time she enjoys history, Sherlock Holmes, science fiction and ignoring her treadmill. An Australian, she lives in Edmonton, Canada, with her husband, a former professional wrestler, where she moved in 1996 after meeting him on-line.
Tracy is here today to give us the top nine laws of time-travel in romances. In addition, she tells us about her latest title, Kiss Across Chains, the third story in her Kiss Across Time series.

The 9 Laws of Time Travel in Romances
A tongue-in-cheek and (very) generalized look at the genre of time travel romances.
1. There will be no mechanics, gears, wheels or electronics to aid the time travel.
The traveling through time will happen spontaneously, without the need of equipment, tools or machines…or Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.
2. The traveller will experience very little disorientation upon arrival in the past/future.
There will be no side-effects from the traveling, and when the traveller arrives, they can figure out very quickly where they are, and what has happened. They accept the idea of traveling through time without question.
3. The traveller will instantly understand the local language, dialect and idiom.
Even if the locals are speaking a northern Italian early medieval version of Latin, the traveller will be able to both understand, speak and write in that language. Ancient English dialects present no barrier at all.
4. The traveller invariably meets someone famous in the past.
Time travel authors can’t help themselves. The historical personage not only appears in the story, but they are usually enamored with the traveller and their “advanced” thinking…
5. The traveller will find the contemporary clothes of the time they are visiting suits them perfectly.
There is never any disorientation about how to don historical garments, and the traveller never, ever finds the clothing irritating, frustrating or just plain uncomfortable.
They do, of course, look fabulous in their new garb.
6. The traveller will never fall ill of local and contemporary diseases.
There are some deadly diseases that have been all but contained or completely wiped out in our times, that a modern traveller would have no antibodies to resist if they met a nasty virus. Even a common cold would be an ancient variant that modern travelers should succumb to. Nevertheless, the traveller will breeze through their time in the past with nary a sniffle or spike in their temperature.
The traveller will also be able to consume and digest all local foods without ill effect or an adjustment period. No food intolerances are permitted.
7. The traveller will never fall foul of local laws, unless it brings them into contact with the hero/heroine.
Breaking the law, falling foul of local customs and ignoring the etiquette of the times never happens. The traveller, regardless of the degree or lack of historical education, manages to avoid all entanglements with the rules. They instinctively acquire a working knowledge of the local laws when they arrive.
The only time they will screw up is when it helps bring them together with the hero or heroine…or drives a wedge between them.
8. People in the past will not be suspicious about the traveller.
Despite the traveller having the most odd accent the locals would have ever heard, a lack of familiarity with current events, and a general air of ignorance, locals will overcome their usually hostile or suspicious reception of strangers and accept the traveller as one of their own.
9. Whatever the traveller does in the past, it will rarely have any affect upon the future.
Einstein’s theories dictate that a visitor to the past must change the past, and even the smallest changes can ripple down through time, their effect expanding as history becomes more and more changed as the new events unfold. But that doesn’t happen in time travel romances. The traveller can bumble around in the past, meet and interact with key figures, even interfere with and change the course of key historical events, but because it is a time travel romance, they will find everything right with their world when they return to their own time.

For every law, above, there is probably a time travel romance out there that proves it is an exception. But time travel romances are too much fun to read and write to ever let little things like Relativity to get in the way.
I know I’m not about to abandon the genre!

It is four years since Taylor and Brody almost lost Veris during the First Crusade. Now they know how to control time jumps, they have settled into a very nearly perfect, nearly human life, raising their daughter Marit.
When Brody defies Queen Tira to protect Marit, the three of them jump back three days in time to collect evidence the queen set up Brody for a drug bust in retribution. The jump sends them back to Brody’s personal nightmare: Fifth century Constantinople.
While Brody survives as a flogged slave, Taylor masquerades as the wife of an aristocrat and searches for Brody to release him. They must wait for Veris to find them before jumping home and Taylor watches each brutal chariot race, wondering if this will be Brody’s last. Brody once died in the Hippodrome and he is human this time, too….
Warning: This story features two super hot alpha vampire heroes, multiple sex scenes, including anal sex, MM sexual play, and MMF sex. Do not read this book if frank sexual language and sex scenes offend you.
The time-space continuum was restored to order at the end of this book. Promise.

Ms. Cooper-Posey creates the perfect blend of present-day paranormal menage romance with history. Intriguing and indulgent of my desire to know the details, I found myself longing for stolen moments from ‘real life’ to spend with Taylor, Veris and Brody.
I was completely captivated with the third book in the Kiss Across Time series. Much like the first two. While I believe that Kiss Across Chains could work as a stand-alone title, I definitely would recommend the backstory that goes along with the series. Read. Them. In. Order. Ms. Cooper-Posey has done a phenomenal job weaving present-day and history in a seamless, silken web that keeps the readers ensnared.
I think what keeps me so engrossed in this trio is the inner conflict that the characters need to overcome in order to restore the timeline to some semblance of their present-day once they time travel. I really like their ‘today’. Marit, biological daughter of Veris and Taylor – conceived during a jump – is growing up, and naturally she has a nanny, Mia. Mia is definitely able to take care of herself as well as Marit. Alexander joins us from the last title. It seems as though Veris and Brody have created for themselves a tight-knit family, with Taylor as the matriarch.
Honestly, there’s nothing I didn’t like about this title. It took me up and down the roller coaster of emotions. It’s smokin’ hot!!! I’d rate it a 4.5 out of 5 for hotness factor; however, don’t pick up the series if you’re uncomfortable with M/M, or M/M/F menage action.
Veris was the ultimate savior. He literally saved Brody. Even though he had a lot to overcome in order to make that happen, Veris was able to keep it together when it really counted. Even though he wasn’t totally in the headspace to accomplish the task. He knew he had to do it for the greater good…for the present-day Veris-Brody-Taylor (and Marit).
Taylor, as usual, was the level-headed, quick-on-her-feet matriarch that seemed to be the glue that held everyone together. Even when it seemed like things were darkest. What I like the most about Taylor is that she is able to reign in her emotions and not broadcast them. I epically fail at that. The way she is able to quickly and seamlessly adapt to whatever is thrown at her is nothing short of amazing.
This book, for the most part, was Brody’s backstory. I absolutely felt for him. As a slave in Constantinople, as one forced to race the chariots… the beatings, and the moments of solace he found when he was with Taylor. They were all so vivid for me. Ms. Cooper-Posey painted a detailed portrait of Brody in this time in his life. By acknowledging his weaknesses, Brody was setting himself up for his future. With Veris and Taylor. His resolve to live with gusto – to go into the races and slave pits with the same tenacity he possessed during that time period, was nothing short of bravery at its finest. Brody knew what was going to happen. He suspected when, as well. If I knew the future, I don’t know whether I would be able to ensure that the timeline was as uninterrupted as possible.
Over-all, I really love this series. I know it’s going in my favorite of 2013. As much as I liked the previous titles in the Kiss Across Time series, I do believe that Kiss Across Chains might just have the dubious distinction of being my favorite title in the series thus far. Kudos to Ms. Cooper-Posey.

Seducing Liberty begins with a history lesson, and Jackson has clearly done her homework. One of the most well kept secrets of the Revolutionary War was the Culper Spy Ring, which operated in New York for General George Washington. Underneath the big clashes and key players in the war, these men and women fought another, equally perilous, battle for information that could be used against the British.
Madelyn Summers, recently betrothed and the daughter of a staunch British loyalist, refuses to accept her fate as a “brood mare,” and instead decides to help the rebels by passing them any military secrets she overhears. With tempting curves and a figure described as “lush,” Madelyn would be a dream come true for any man of the day. If only she weren’t so willful, of course. But a series of mishaps soon reveals that she’s not the only spy under her father’s roof.
The story then shifts to New Hampshire in the year 2011. Ryann Summers is a well-known movie actress portraying a Revolutionary spy. Unfortunately, being a star with curves in an age when chivalry seems dead isn’t pleasant, especially when working with two hot, but unavailable costars has given her a hunger for a ménage a trois.
From here on, Jackson tosses the rules out the window. Ryann thinks what she wants is impossible, given her status as an A-list actress. Luckily for her, with Madame Eve and her 1 Night Stand dating service, anything is possible. Ryann takes the reader through two more time shifts and a lot of sexy improbability before her story’s through.
Despite the engrossing beginning (I happily ignored other obligations to spend several hours researching Jackson’s historical details), the abrupt change to modern times and what follows is a bit jarring. The formal, partial authenticity of the first part of the story isn’t present in the second, and the adjustment took a little while. Soon enough, though, it became easier to just read along and let the story go where it would. There are a few highly amusing passages, especially when the very modern Ryann finds herself in the middle of Madelyn’s escape.
In the end, Seducing Liberty was a lot of fun to read. As with all the 1 Night Stand stories I’ve read so far, Ryann gets her wish and then some. As one of the stories in the series that isn’t about weres or other paranormal creatures it has a lot to offer. The sex scenes are relatively short, but oh so hot, and with the suggestion that the fun may not be limited to just one night after all, Jackson ends her tale on a very happy note.

Catriona is a standalone novel that claims to mix paranormal with historical romance. Based on the description, Una and Gikany feel let down. As we have previously stated, we are not contemporary romance people. We also are very picky when it comes to historical romance (Gikany more so than Una). Gikany and Una prefer the element of the paranormal in our romance stories. With Catriona we thought we would be getting a good mix. We didn’t.
The most glaring issue we found is the main character, Kate, suffers from and gives the reader, whiplash. She is on or off, hot or cold. She takes a stance and then without much pressure, she’ll just switch. This flashing back and forth was very unrealistic. The interactions between Kate and her modern day love interest extenuate this. We really wish Niall had just walked away, he deserved better and she would deserve the heartache from losing him. It is very difficult to walk in the main character’s shoes when you wish she would just disappear.
Another major issue is the transitions between the historic portion and the contemporary. They are not smooth for the most part and depending on the reader’s perspective can be just summed up as a huge dream. This “twice-lived” paranormal element is just a bunch of woo-woo; she dreamed it all in an effort to explain her “emo-ness.” In fact, Una found herself wanting to skip over the modern day portions so she could get back to the historical storyline.
However, Cat and Patrick’s story was very captivating. The characters in the historical storyline were well characterized and felt so real. Their story played out very well and, although predictable at times, it was engaging and enthralling. It feels that maybe the author concentrated her efforts in this storyline, which is why the other storyline felt flat and unnecessary.
Una and Gikany feel that the novel would have been far better if we just had the historical romance. That is where the major action and adventure occurred in the novel and the most suspense took place. We felt there was some characterization lacking on one of the enemies in the book, if Ms. Baker had given us more of the back-story and left out the modern-day, twice-lived storyline it would have been much better.
