OMG, I'm really sorry to say this but I hated it so much lol! I couldn't get past chapter five and gave it away at work. I thought of dropping out of the challenge, but I have been assured that the books are better so I plan on giving A Hunger Like No Other a shot =)

I am really liking the mythology! I find having the gals be the ones that are closely connected and the guys coming in from different areas. I am having a bit of problem with Sex as a Weapon thing but so far no lines have been crossed that I can't get past.

2) What did you think about the “forced-consensual” start to Myst and Wroth’s sexual relationship?

I read these out of order (book 2 first) and that is the part I am having the hardest time with. Not so much because of the "bodice ripper" aspect but that it seems to be a way to get a "one up" on the other. I prefer it to be because someone can't wait to get the other person because they just want them that bad!

3) What was/were your favorite and/or least favorite parts?

Favorite Parts: Oddly enough anytime the "sisters" are all in a scene.

Least Favorite: The anything but scenes where he is forcing her to beg/ask for him.

Yes! I will say that I, too, read A Hunger Like No Other first, so I already knew quite a bit about the IAD world. What I loved about this story in particular was that it focused on the Valkyrie sisters and their relationship as the foundation. I agree with Felicia that I like the girls being the center of the story and having the men come to them.

If you've read any of my erotica reviews lately, you know that I love dubious consent. That's a big fantasy kink of mine, and this story pushed all the right buttons for me. I don't think Wroth ever took it too far. It appeared that's what Myst was looking for in a man, someone who could "best" her. Well, she found him! The scene after he takes her chain where she's on her knees holding on to his belt...if you've read it, you know what happens. My, oh, my. Someone hose me down! LOL.

3) What was/were your favorite and/or least favorite parts?

Favorite parts: Definitely the sisters first, then the scorching hot sex scenes.

Least favorite parts: Hmmm. None, really. I am usually not a fan of short stories because they feel rushed and I end up feeling lost, but not in this case. This was a great beginning to the IAD series. I'm looking forward to re-reading book two.

Did anyone else fantasize about Wroth looking like Joe Manganiello?

When I started the IAD series, I read the first few out of order, so this was actually the third story I read. So I already knew I was going to enjoy the world, the characaters, and everything else.

For me, I just enjoyed getting the back story for these two, since I had already seen them together in the other two books I'd read.

1. YES! I love the world building and mythology.

2. I read A Hunger Like No Other and it had forced "consensual" sexual relationship and I had a serious problem with it. Because I'd read that book first, it was easier for me to accept Myst's and Wroth's sexual relationship. I hope this isn't the theme throughout the series.

3. My favorite part is when Wroth and Myst get down and dirty in the alley (?). My least favorite was Myst in general. It took me a while to warm up to her. I don't like the Valkyrie's that much but I guess I better get over it. LOL!

@V&T: OH NO! Sorry you didn't enjoy the book! I'm glad you will at least try the next book. I felt it wasn't a great book, but a good start for setting up the series. What was it that you didn't like?

@Felicia: I agree that the "sister" feeling of the Valkyrie is wonderful - I'm looking forward to how that will build.

@Diana: I also LOVED that Myst found someone that could "best" her. I felt that Ms. Cole did a good job with that scene.

And JOE as Wroth... I'm totally hooked now! LOL

My answers:

1) I do like the world building so far. I am interested to see how each Valkyrie is unique. Also more about the differences b/w made and natural-born vamps. But what about the Demon-Vamps?!

2) I had mixed feelings about the "forced consent." Like @Diana - I'm all for kink and do love a good tie-me-up scene. I was a bit sad for Myst, but in reality, she was only forced to admit and do what she wanted to in her heart.

3) My favorite scene was when Myst admitted to herself that Wroth was for her b/c he could best her. My least favorite - don't think I really have one.
